Full Biography

Karim is an Entrepreneur-In-Residence at HOF Capital. His startup is Blackfish, a real estate investment firm algorithmically identifying opportunities through public data.

Previously, Karim was an Investment Banking Associate at Berenson & Company, a generalist, independent investment bank offering M&A advisory, principal investments, public and private financings of debt and equity, and financial restructurings and recapitalizations.

At Berenson, Karim was part of a five-person team in charge of developing Berenson’s principal investing activities and marketing materials to raise the firm’s first private equity fund.

From an M&A perspective, selected transaction experience includes: $350m Sale of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia (NYSE: MSO) to Sequential Brands (NASDAQ: SQBG) ($500m mkt. cap), sale of Gazelle, Inc. to Outerwall Inc. (NASDAQ: OUTR) ($900m mkt. cap), and sale of RISI to Euromoney Institutional Investor (LSE: ERM).

Prior to Berenson, Karim was a private equity analyst at Pegasus Capital Advisors ($2bn AUM private equity firm) focusing on renewable energy and downstream oil & gas coverage. Prior to Pegasus, Karim was a structured finance analyst at Societe Generale involved in the syndication of $2bn revolving credit facility to Emirates Telecommunications Corporation.

Karim holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics, cum laude, from the Wharton School at the University in Pennsylvania with a dual concentration in Finance and Statistics and a minor in Mathematics.
